It turned out that I knew the woman taking tickets, her husband taught at my old high school and they were friends of my brother, who lived "next door" in Sierra Madre. The house is absolutely stunning and I'd like to see it again. I can't imaging sleeping on the porches as it does get chilly at night in the winter, but nothing compared to Cincinnati, where the owners lived. In the Gamble House, the two brothers could explore the full possibilities of this vision for clients who appreciated and could afford it.

Since that may not be possible for some time to come, I thought a little tour to one of my favorite vacation spots so far would be in order. Welcome to my visit of the Gamble House located in Pasadena, California. I own a 1912 California Craftsman Bungalow in Los Angeles, CA. I am fortunate to have found this house, and that no one painted over the natural wood in the living and dining rooms. Many of the original features of the house were "updated." I am slowly bringing it back to it's original state.

The Gamble House uses teak, oak, maple, mahogany, and cedar to incorporate contrasting colors, grains, and textures. Wood details include custom built-ins, inlays, and an exposed interlocking joint staircase. Although the Greenes never traveled to Japan, they found inspiration closer to home, frequenting the Japanese Garden at The Huntington with its historic Japanese House and ceremonial teahouse. The brothers drew inspiration from Japanese import stores and books.

I did all the usual sightseeing tours and the long, tiring walk up to the Hollywood sign, or at least as far as they would let us go. There was no way I was going to pass up one of the most famous architectural sights in history. Established as a National Historic Landmark in 1978, the Gamble House presents some of the most fascinating architectural construction of its time. The main terrace is beyond the rear facade of the residence. It has patterned brick paving with planting areas, a large curvilinear pond, and garden walls made with distinctive clinker bricks and boulders.

We were there again last November and we took a few pictures outside just for fun. It made me wish (again) we'd been able to take our wedding pictures there; it's just so gorgeous. You can see my photos of various movies and TV show houses from my visit to the Warner Bros Ranch. This house is within walking distance from Fox Studios where the show was filmed so that worked out well for them. The house from Young Sheldon is not in Texas, it is a short drive from the Warner Bros Studio where the tv series is filmed. If you take the Warner Bros Studio Tour you might get to see some places in the backlots where the show has been filmed but they never open up the sets in the soundstages for viewing.

La La Land is in my top five favorite movies and easily my favorite movie set in Los Angeles, closely followed by Valentine’s Day. I have visited several filming locations from La La Land including Angels Flight, the Smoke House Restaurant, and the Lighthouse Cafe. The apartment that Mia lives in is located out in Long Beach and is stunning!

According to the series, the Charmed house was built in 1898, which may be close, according to a historic plaque mounted across the street.
